Connect a phone

For an installed computer game, start with the desktop companion. For a game with built-in phone-controller support, open the game's host screen instead. Both give you a QR code to scan.

Use the desktop companion

  1. Open the companion on the computer where the game will run.
  2. Keep the phone and computer on a network that allows them to reach each other.
  3. Scan the QR with the phone app. A phone's normal camera can also open the browser controller.
  4. Check that the phone appears in Your controllers. Press a button and watch Test your controls on the computer.
  5. Open your game. If the computer shows "No gamepad yet", pick Arrow keys or WASD for that phone: it then presses keys on this computer, which works in any game with keyboard controls.

On Windows the app installs the Xbox controller driver in one click the first time; Linux needs access to /dev/uinput. The download page has the one-time setup for each system.

Join an integrated game

Open a game on the shared screen, create a room and scan its QR. The phone shows the controls or private view that game needs. No desktop virtual-gamepad driver is needed for this path.

For the included games, the host starts the round after everyone joins. Players who join after a round starts may wait for the next round. The host can restart with the current players.

Join from a browser

The controller works in the phone's browser, no install needed. Point the phone's camera at the QR and open the link. If the page cannot use the camera, use the phone's normal camera app instead, or paste the join link into the controller.

If the connection drops

The client tries to reclaim the same seat with a short-lived reconnect ticket. Held controls are released during a disconnect or stale-input timeout. A successful reconnect rotates the ticket so the old one cannot be reused.

If the seat expired or the host removed it, scan the current QR again. Full mouse and keyboard control (native phone app) must be approved again after reconnecting.
